The United States federal government provides billions of dollars of aid to public school districts with the overall goal of improving student success.
For example, funded by telecommunications service providers, E-Rate provides funds to districts in rolling five-year phases in two categories; the first funds telecom services such as internet access while Category 2 helps pay for equipment such as network switches, routers and Wireless Access Points (WAPs).
Another larger, more recent federal program is the American Rescue Plan (ARP) which was the third national Covid-relief legislation passed in March 2021 which is bringing $8.9 billion in new aid to New York State school districts. While much of these funds will be used to hire staff, add devices and upgrade building systems, they can also be used to purchase various technology systems including core infrastructure (cable, pathways and spaces). These funds have a planning deadline of Sept. 30, 2021 while the funds themselves must be spent by Sept. 30, 2024.
With a full-time K12 funding specialist as part of our team, Archi-Technology can help your district maximize its available federal funding with a Comprehensive Technology Plan which, in turn, can be completely funded by your ARP allocation.
Contact us to see how your district can get an accurate, comprehensive 10-year technology plan at no cost. But hurry, districts must submit ARP plans to NYSED by Sept. 30, 2021.
